In Through the Looking Glass, when Alice visits The Garden of Live Flowers, she can only reach the top of a nearby hill by walking in the opposite direction. Then, in a dreamlike discontinuity, she abruptly finds herself near her destination. While the Alice books are an extravagant fantasy, infinitely more bizarre convolutions of traditional scientific logic are continually being displayed beyond the threshold of our perception by miniscule quantum particles. Moreover, the full ramifications of their strange behaviour are only now starting to emerge in a mind-boggling, multi-dimensional vista.
The anomalous discovery
During the mid-1970’s, David Hudson (now David Radius Hudson) was in the eyes of his neighbours a fairly regular guy. Coming from an ultra-conservative, materialistic background and owning 70,000 acres in the Yuma Valley near Phoenix, Arizona, around this time he began small-scale gold and silver mining operations on his land. Inexplicably, yield dropped and in its place he started obtaining increasing quantities of a mystery white powder known to metallurgists and the mining community as ‘ghost gold’. Hudson fortunately possessed curiosity, persistence and an open mind. These qualities would become increasingly valuable as the story slowly unfolded.
From the outset, it was obvious that the strange powder had unusual properties. When assayed, it formed a bead that was identified by several commercial laboratories as a gold and silver mixture. All known gold and silver alloys are soft, but this was glass-like rather than ductile; if struck with a hammer, instead of flattening, it shattered. When left out in the hot Arizona sun, it spontaneously combusted, producing an unusually bright flash of light.
Through his contacts, Hudson arranged a spectroscopy test at Cornell University in New York State. This detected a small quantity of iron, silica and aluminium, leaving 98% of the sample intact and still unidentified.
Not to be defeated, he discovered that while conventional spectroscopy involves holding the sample between two carbon electrodes for 15 seconds, a text written by a Russian scientist called Ginsberg recommended identifying platinum-group elements through the exceptional temperatures generated by lengthy five-minute tests. This proved to be an important breakthrough. After 70 seconds palladium appeared, followed in order by platinum, rhodium, ruthenium, iridium, and finally osmium. These dense platinum-group metals occurred in the test sample at far greater concentrations than the richest deposits then being mined commercially anywhere in the world.
Rhodium was selected from this group, and heated to 1,400º C under the gas argon, at which temperature it turned into a snow-white powder. Being completely pure, it no longer chemically reacts, and was therefore resistant to conventional analysis. A new class of material had been discovered.
An alchemy connection
Jumping forward in time, around 1990 an uncle gave Hudson a copy of the Time-Life book Secrets of the Alchemists. Traditionally a body of hidden knowledge about the inner spiritual essence of matter, today alchemy is usually either a buzzword attached to a growing number of consumer products, or tends to be regarded as an ancient outbreak of arcane nuttiness. What was once a well of deep wisdom is to our modern scientifically orientated society a byword for mumbo-jumbo.
Ostensibly, the primary alchemical aims were to transmute base metals into gold and obtain a philosopher’s stone that possessed miraculous properties such as conferring immortality. In modern times, this transmutation is prosaically rationalised by academia as a metaphor for spiritual evolution, but some adherents have always clung to the idea that alchemy contains other secrets….
As a follower of scientific methodology, at first Hudson was dismissive of hermetic writings, but later saw an obvious connection between what he was reading and what he was working on. A white powder of gold is referred to Phililethes, who describes the philosopher’s stone as ‘gold digested to the highest degree of purity’ and says that ‘its appearance is that of a very fine powder’. Earlier, the celebrated French alchemist Nicholas Flamel had written that when gold was perfectly prepared, the fine powder is the philosopher’s stone. This high-purity substance is described as the container of light of life, and is referred to in alchemical texts as ‘white dew’, ‘white condensate’ and the ‘white dove’. Alternatively, it may be symbolised as a white feather.
Entering the quantum realm
Meanwhile, in the world beyond the looking glass, things were getting weirder. When turned to a white powder at high temperatures, the mystery material would lose exactly four ninths (about 44%) of its mass. Working separately in Texas, the experimental scientist Hal Puthoff had hypothesised that when superconducting matter begins to interact in two dimensions rather than three, it will lose 44% of its weight.
Hudson heard about Puthoff’s research, and in a lively meeting told him that his research may have been experimentally validated. According to Puthoff’s theories, as gravity governs the space/time continuum, a material with altered gravitational properties will bend space/time, opening up the possibility of space or time travel.
Better was to come. When heated and cooled under argon and helium, in its cooled stage the white powder experienced a 300-400% weight increase, and after being heated it dematerialised (reappearing as it cooled), while possessing a negative weight (the weight of the sample pan dropped to below what it weighed when empty). This levitation effect persisted to a degree after it had cooled down – perhaps the alchemists’ white feather symbol was not an accidental one after all. Instruments were checked and the experiment was performed hundreds of times, with success on each occasion.
At this point, things take a speculative turn. Hudson was inclined to think that his strange powder was resonating at a frequency imperceptible to the human eye, but being a frontier physicist, Puthoff had a more mind-boggling explanation: exhibiting quantum behaviour, it may have temporarily left this universe for one or many other parallel ones.
Testing with electrodes and a voltmeter identified the substance as a likely superconductor at room temperature, indicating the likelihood of quantum behaviour. Modern superconductors usually only exist at very low temperatures, and in recent years a room-temperature superconductor has become a scientific holy grail, eagerly sought by industry as the next big breakthrough.
Hudson’s discovery exhibited other superconducting properties: super-fluidity, deformed nuclei in a high-spin state, and quantum tunnelling through solid objects. It has a tendency to escape from sealed containers, with part of the missing amount re-appearing on the lid. In quantum terms, this can be explained in terms of particles momentarily turning into waves before recommencing their existence as particles outside the container.
Hudson believes that his discovery is monatomic, but other researchers feel that it is just as likely to be diatomic. While the jury is still out, his white powder materials are frequently known as ‘m-state’, other names being ORME (Orbitally Rearranged Monatomic Elements), and ORMUS. Monatomic atoms only interact in two dimensions, and this fits in well with Puthoff’s theories concerning loss of mass.
To preclude the possibility of anyone patenting ORMUS materials and technology, and thereby acquiring the power to prevent his work from continuing, Hudson took out a set of patents in the late 1980’s. Knowledge of this area is still at an early stage, but it is growing. It is now known how to convert m-state materials to metal and back from metal to m-state. Observations indicate that m-state substances are abundant in nature, found in rocks, water, and the air. Hudson has successfully isolated ORMUS rhodium and iridium from plants, and from pig and cow brain tissue, at a surprisingly high concentration of 5% per dry weight. As shown later, their presence in the brain may have a particular significance.
The science of human intake
Hudson believes that a single frequency of light flows through superconductors with zero efficiency losses, giving rise to the non-polar magnetic field known as the Meissner Field. Based on the probability that ingesting ORMUS materials enhances human superconducting properties, some thinkers have made the lateral jump to compare the human aura to a kind of Meissner Field. And as superconductors respond to minute changes in the magnetic field, it is suspected that they will respond to the low-level electromagnetic energy of thoughts.
Among its research, the US Government’s Naval Research Laboratory has discovered that cellular communication takes place through quantum resonance, an outcome that could only happen if every cell in the human body contains a room-temperature superconductor. Such an intriguing scenario opens up the likelihood of our involvement in instantaneous non-local quantum communication over vast distances, underlining the insights of mystics who perceived the interconnectedness between all things.
Particular attention has also been given to a nano-sized structure found in every cell, known as the microtubule, which at room temperature exhibits superconductive and quantum tunnelling properties. Water-based ORMUS materials have been found to create a superconductive medium inside microtubules, which in turn are found inside the cells of brain neurons. Roger Penrose, professor of mathematics at Oxford University has put forward the view that microtubules may be controls for the brain’s quantum activity, and might be the primary source of consciousness. This brings us far closer to a possible explanation for psychic phenomena such as telepathy and remote viewing.
Challenges and changed lives
ORMUS does not form metal-to-metal molecular bonds with its own element, and is incapable of chemically reacting, making it non-toxic to humans. For several years a number of people have been taking it internally, with often beneficial, sometimes surprising, and not always pleasant results.
Barry Carter, whose ORMUS website is the most comprehensive of its kind, stops short of recommending its ingestion on the basis that so little is known about it.
Larger quantities of fully purified and charged powder appears to fast-track the process of spiritual evolution in a challenging way. One man who tried it described himself as ‘impossible to be around’ and found that he could never tell a lie. He stated “Unless you can find someone …. who has a point of reference for it, you’re going to be very alone”.
The experiences of another man who did the same dramatically confirm the New Age view that one’s reality is created by one’s beliefs. He found that thoughts would swiftly manifest in physical reality; for example if he had a negative thought about crashing his car, another car would appear from nowhere and almost run into his. He survived by engaging his mind continuously on other matters, often through carrying out mathematical equations.
Intake of m-state materials appears to magnify the power of both positive and negative beliefs, creating an argument for examining one’s negative belief systems as a preliminary step. Experiences have shown that ORMUS may precipitate an emotional or psychological healing crisis akin to the mystics’ ‘Dark night of the soul’. While this may cause most people to give up, another option is to reduce the intake or have a break before resuming the process.
Health and well-being
Hudson’s painstaking work has yielded several important health insights. Research indicates that m-state rhodium and iridium have healing powers and anti-ageing effects. Foods that are rich in these two elements include grape juice, carrot juice and aloe-vera juice. It is suspected that ORMUS gold and iridium both enhance energy flow along acupuncture meridians.
The May 1995 issue of Scientific American magazine reported that when single ruthenium atoms are placed at either end of a short strand of DNA, they turn the DNA into a near-superconductor. Astonishingly, the biomedical research division of Bristol Myers Squibb has found that the interaction of ruthenium atoms with DNA results in cancer cell malformations being corrected. An anti-cancer effect has also been linked to m-state rhodium.
M-state materials effectively ‘disappear’ in water, as they cannot be detected by chemical or spectroscopic analysis. Indeed, they might become distilled together with water, thereby increasing their purity. The controversy surrounding the ‘unscientific’ nature of homoeopathy might also be cleared up, especially the tendency of homoeopathic remedies to be ‘potentised’ as they become diluted. While no molecule of the original substance may remain, m-state materials present in the water may act as recording devices to store their vibration.
Below are listed some of the diverse, and occasionally bizarre, experiences that have followed ingestion of small quantities of ORMUS.
- Improved metabolism, well-being and sense of living in balance: in some cases, an excess of energy.
- Peak experiences, and a sense of everything being interconnected.
- Detachment from worldly affairs.
- Disconnection from the past and future, coupled with a sense of being in the present.
- Sensitisation and improved sensory functions.
- Improvement in thought capabilities and the ability to work more efficiently.
- A pleasant roaring sound similar to ringing in the ears. This is believed to be the ‘Nada’ referred to in yogic texts.
- Enhanced psychic abilities.
- More synchronicities appearing in one’s daily life.
- Faster manifestation of thoughts in the physical world.
- Left and right brain synchronisation and enhancement of alpha waves (as shown on EEG graphs)
- Gain or loss of overall height.
M-state products are available commercially from a number of companies, usually in liquid form, and although it is not known how closely they come to a superconductive state, several producers are recommended on Internet forums. Some use pure gold as a base while others utilise platinum group elements from sea sediments or volcanic earth sources. A cheaper option is to make your own, and there are several possible techniques that can be used.
All m-state elements are abundant in seawater, and Barry Carter, suggests making it using Dead Sea Salt. The most concentrated known source of these elements, it may be obtainable from chemists or health food shops. Another option is to raise the pH of clean ocean water to 10.8 or higher using dilute lye (sodium hydroxide), and then washing the resulting precipitated solid three times with distilled water.
In Carter’s opinion, ORMUS is the most important discovery in the history of humankind, and perhaps he is right. It appears to have the potential to accelerate human evolution through bringing about a state of heightened consciousness. Like all paradigm-busting discoveries in their early stages, it remains on the fringes, but hopefully with the power of the Internet it will reach a wide audience.
